It’s a warm spring Thursday evening at 5th & Lamar in downtown Austin. Thunderstorms just rolled through the area. The sky is now clear and we’re being treated to a beautiful sunset. A perfect night to address our concerns about money and career!
On this evening, Wolfgang Career Coaching and DMJ & Associates – two Austin-based professional services firms – hosted the very first Empow{her} event. Empow{her} is designed to help women:
- acknowledge where they are at financially and in their career
- define what career and financial freedom means to them
- identify the obstacles – internal and external – holding them back
- lay out action steps to move forward and achieve their goals
A night out with friends
Corazon provided delicious hors d’oeuvres and a healthy drink selection. The atmosphere was warm and casual – it felt like a ladies night out with friends! It was a cross between happy hour and a workshop – a relaxed environment where everyone felt comfortable and willing to share. This group became closer by sharing their struggles, journey, and worries as well as their ideas, insight, and future financial and career goals.
After relaxing and networking, our hosts began a discussion on the fundamentals for financial success and effective career management. This included an exercise to help people understand how their core values related to finance and career.

Overall, we received great reviews and high interest in more workshops going forward! Everyone enjoyed the small group size and felt the individual exercises and group discussion were the best parts.

Amy Wolfgang is a career coach who founded Wolfgang Career Coaching and co-founded Coaching 4 Good. She brings over 15 years of corporate and coaching experience to help organizations boost employee engagement while simultaneously helping her clients excel in their careers. She is a certified PCM (Professional Career Manager) and has a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.
